Tick Tock Goes The Clock

This all seems like a time bomb waiting to explode.
Time bomb = phy

Tick tock, tick tock, goes the clock.
I sigh a sigh of relief with each day that passes.

I fear that something greater.
Therefore I mustn't be a letdown.

There, my purpose in this life.

Overwhelmed Life

The past couple of months have been a whirlwind.
A hurricane.

Yes. A hurricane named Yuppie Life struck the world of Phy.
It swooped her up, carried her on this adventure.
All in the name of Yuppie Life & Adventure.

I have travelled to 3 different countries in 4 months.
I have clubbed more than I ever had in my life.
I have drunk more alcohol than I ever had in my life.
I have met my sec sch friends more than I ever have in the last couple of years.
I have made more friends than I have in the last couple of years. (Comparing the short time span)
I have written the most sane blog entries that I have ever written in years.
Conclusion: I have done more firsts in these few months than I have ever had as far as I can remember.

A crash course of EasyGrowingUp101.
Or perhaps, TeenageYearsMissed101.

Either way, it was a crash course.

Yet, was it fulfilling?
Well, I have completed EasyGrowingUp101.
And I'm moving on to AdvancedGrowingUp201.
Wish me luck.

The Fire in those Eyes

The fire in our eyes, it ought never go out.
When it goes out, one would have lost that passion/belief/purpose in life.

It's sad to look at someone and find those big eyes, round and lifeless.
It's like the person has lost all hope.

Million Dollar Baby.
"I got what I needed, boss. Got it all. Don't let em keep takin' it away from me. Don't let me lie here till I can't hear those people chanting no more." - Maggie

She wanted to die with that fire in her eyes.
We all do. In some way or other.

I know so much but yet I don't...

There is so much I've heard before and so much that I understand.
But yet, I can't say I do.
Coz I don't.

It's mind-boggling. You.
More than me.

I can finish your sentences for you.
But yet, I might never understand exactly what you mean.

Then what?

Doesn't that apply to everyone else?
We always think we understand. But truly, do we?
We perceive things so differently in this world.
We'll never be able to see the world through the other person's eyes.

"This is red!"
"Yes, it is."

But yet, we'll never know what the color red looks like in that other person's eyes.
We only assume it's the exact same shade/color we see thru' our own eyes.

Live Here, Live Now. Live in this moment.

Living in the moment.
It's a good way to shut out everything else.
Unhappiness, happiness.

Just enjoy the moment.
Don't spoil it.

I'm not good at living in the moment.
I foul up sometimes.
But I think I'm learning.
I think I'm much better at it now than I was before.

Oh yes... Medicine...

Gee, now that mr Towkay here has mentioned medicine...

My medicine and consultation fees cost me a whopping $60!
Ouch!

All thanks to the antibiotics... sigh...

If you include the medicine from the 1st time I went to the doctor's, I would have spent $90 on this stupid sore throat/viral infection of mine...

Gee whiz.

Coincidence

Coincidences are amazing.
We hardly think about it.

Today I retraced my steps leading to a coincidence.
It's amazing how things end up the way they do.
Sometimes it's meant to be. And there's no way you can fault that.

I almost decided not to go to the doctor's.
But I changed my mind at the last minute.
I thought I could take 10, but found I couldn't after running after the bus.
And there.

Yet another blast from the past.

Phy scores again!
I know, you're confused. No worries, you're right! =)

The Butter Factory etc.

Heard of The Butter Factory?
It's a new hangout & the DJs were from Coco Latte.

My friends brought me there.
It's alright. =)

Small place.
Considering it's been open only a week and with the likes of Garret Mallal & Rosalind Pho there, well, it's got to be one of the 'hip & cool' places to be at, no?
hmmz.. wait ... let me think again... must be *waves a finger like a teacher would*

Oh com'on! I'm sure some of you reading my blog would lap all that up?!

*Shrugs*

My friends, my new found friends. They're nice, chillout people.
Not out to make a statement but to enjoy themselves.
Nicely.

And so ends another week.
A failed attempt to head to MoS on Saturday night. A whole series of excuses as to why we couldn't make it. Perhaps I should compile a book - "Book of Excuses to Get You Out of EVERY Situation"

Hahaha... =)

Someone once said that he ought to compile a book that says "Life with Phy"
Hahaha, it's quite hilarious the things that would go in there.

Quirky Quote of the Day: Different people think differently of different people.

3 Differents in one sentence. Shows how limited my vocab is huh? Howlian lar! Show me your stuff, baby!

The Black Hole

The Black Hole.
Complete darkness.
No light to guide.
No one hears your cries.

Once, a hand was there to hold.
In my haste to find the light,
I let slip the hand I held on to so tightly.

Now, sometimes I see the light far beyond.
Sometimes I stand in complete darkness.
Afraid to move.
Afraid to take the next step.

Slowly, I inch forward, on my own.
Steadily, I learn to survive.
Despite the occasional desperate grasp for that hand once held.

And I learn.
Inching my way forward.
Tears fall, but no one sees.
Cries for help, but no one hears.

Finally, I reach out again to grasp the hand I once held.
Only to find it's truly gone.
Tears fall, and then they stop falling.
Then something dies.
That hope. For the light is gone from sight.

Tony Parsons' Man and Wife

A nice book about relationships though some parts bored me a little.
Shhh, I skipped here and there.

But yeah, it is a nice book.

"Sooner or later you have to stop tormenting yourself with the thought that there's just one out there with your name on. You have to be happy with what you've got. You have to love the one you're with..."

"You have to keep falling in love, You just have to keep falling in love with the same person."

Acceptance & being contented. Perhaps contentment only in this context of love.

5 a.m. Singapore Time

It's insane being up at this hour.
But I am. With a bad throat & 2 Panadols for Cold Relief in my tum tums.

Too many GB Apricot nougats (which I ironically bought in Singapore, instead of in Perth).
Too much chocolate cake leftover from my mum's birthday.
Too much partying, the 2 nights killed me. (Yet another sign of growing old.)
Too much ... of everything, I guess.

Goodnight again. Going to try to sleep somemore.

My Social Life

I think my social life is back on track.
I truly think it is.

It's amazing when I think back, about how it's been the last couple of years.
It's a far cry.

Perhaps my dear towkay frens will never believe this is happening. Coz perhaps, they have never seen this side of me.

It took me a while to get this far. And sometimes I wonder if I'll ever turn back. Certainly not in the near future.

I think, at the moment, I'm in the 'Just enjoy life' phase.

Someone told me that I'm not looking for a husband and that I'm looking for a boyfriend. Got me thinking and now I've started classifying friends into 2 categories: 'Husband material' and 'Boyfriend material'!! Hahaha! Got me thinking about myself and where I stand now. Ask me and you'll know.

I am a kid, in the brain. Some growing up is needed, in the brain, but...
'I don't want to grow up, coz I'm a Toys'R Us kid. There are many toys in Toys'R Us to play with...'

Growing Old?

2 nights of partying is madness.
My knees are killing me, my ankles too.

Signs of growing old.
Plenty of kids at MoS too.
Another sign of growing old?

Enjoyed myself nonetheless.
Different from what I've experienced the many times I went before.
A different type of enjoyment.
A freedom. A complete freedom.
A guy with the most awesome eyes. Like you could drown in them.
A dope who asks questions over and over again.
And a friend who has the 'she can fend for herself, either way she has to learn, so leave her be' mentality. *jumps for joy*

A pity SOMEBODY didn't turn up. Weak ah!
But that somebody prob doesn't read my blog. dope! *smacks forehead*

The HigheR State of Consciousness.

In the world of Ministry of Sound where people delve in a state of "higher consciousness".

I haven't felt this way in a long while. The "lose yourself" kind of feeling. Completely enjoying the music and just feeling free. Perhaps it's coz I haven't had 3 drinks in approx. 2 hrs, starting with a shot, in quite a while.

We always talk about getting all hyped up for partying.
But typing this now, I see the irony - If we are already going to party, why do we still need to get ourselves hyped up for it?

Perhaps then we are going for reasons other than fun (well, of course each person has a different definition of 'fun' but here, i'm referring to partying fun).
And so comes the question of why people go clubbing.
1. To meet new people.
2. To put themselves out there and be part of that HIP group.
3. Others

It is no doubt a place to get to know people. But somehow, deep inside, we all know that these people we get to know, will 8 out of 10 times, be only acquaintances.

Next comes the poseurs, which I do not doubt is in a way in most of us. The yuppie group. We are yuppies, like it or not. The lifestyle. The way we talk. The want to be a part of the 'in' crowd. The need to feel accepted by society (read: peer pressure).

The Others is really a whole host of reasons I'm not too keen to trouble my thoughts with.

Considering the 1st 2 reasons I have stated, is clubbing truly a higher state of consciousness or is it actually a state of in which we are even more conscious of ourselves than we normally are?

N'mind. This is all gibberish.

My sister growing up...

She argues with me just so she is heard.
Little does she know she isn't arguing the point.
But what does it matter?
She just wants to be heard.

She prides her privacy.
We must now ask her opinion or permission to use her things.
My mum opened her ang paos during CNY, forgetting she is a 14-yr-old & not a 3-yr-old.

She has a major crush on a boy she knows.
Quite good taste I must say.
The most amazing thing is that my mum has fun with her about her crushes.
How funky!

Growing up.
The years of rebellion & peer pressure.
The years of thinking that I know better than my parents and that they are old-fashioned and don't understand.

Some things never change, even when the world changes so much we hardly recognize it as ours.

A losing battle.

I fight battles.
I always fight losing battles.

It's exhausting but yet I keep fighting.
And then I become marshmallow.

Sometimes it don't matter if the end result is the same.
The process is what that matters.
The process tells many different stories. And yet, the end result will always be the same.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A friend told me yesterday to for once, let my head rule over my heart.
I hope that one day, I'll be able to do just that.
But I ain't hopeful.
I'm a Heart kinda person and I'm not ashamed to say that.
Big Heart... Kind soul
How big can one's heart be?
Big enough to overlook almost everything in life, for the sake of someone else?
Wish I never even entertained the thought of overlooking.
Wish that someone had told me something different and perhaps I would have gladly overlooked.
Now it could be all too late. Perhaps it's not a could be. Perhaps it truly is.
I asked God for signs.
And perhaps he is presenting them to me.
And perhaps I'm just too blind to see them or I simply refuse to see.
The same dying feeling I got the last time.
Is this it? Will I repeat my mistake?
This time, there'll be no one to tell me to stay, tell me to hold on.
To each his own.
Today was a gloomy day. The weather was a tell-tale sign.
The sky, threatening to break and pour its heart out. Tears falling.
But yet, only so little fell.
It was a forewarning - warning me of how I would feel.
A friend, A kind soul.
A simple short sms that made me smile.
Ice-cream: Rest assure I'll claim my treat!
(You asked the other day, that I write about you one day.
And I said your chance will come. And so it has.)
Nice - Strength or Weakness?
Humans will be humans.
We see someone weak/nice and we seize the opportunity to climb all over the person, taking advantage of his/her niceties or weakness.
We often take people for granted, especially the nice ones. And we do it unconsciously. So much so that one day, that person bursts like a bubble that has overgrown its size, tired of being taken for granted.
Will we ever learn to just be grateful for the people around us? That occasional "thank you" or smile is sometimes not enough. Or is it?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Being weak or being nice?
It's another thin line.
When a person is nice, we take advantage of that person and being nice becomes a weakness. Yet, it is a strength. Must we all be rude, obnoxious people before the entire world can treat us nice & not take advantage of us?

Must it come to all this?
Sigh.

Home Sweet Home

Guess who's back?!?!?! Yours truly.

Are you cringing already from having to even put up with me? Hahaha!

Met an anal non-aussie in aussieland. And she wasn't too pleasant about the slight excess baggage weight I had! Ah well. It ain't me! It's my friend's stuff!
My luggage weight was right on target - 25kg, though I cannot believe I bought SOOO much stuff over the course of 2 weeks!

The plane ride was probably the most interesting I've ever had.
Met an aussie country girl, on her way to London Heathrow Airport. And she's gonna meet her friends there and then go on a work/travel trip around Europe!
Ahhh! I so want to do that too! A pity our Singapore password doesn't allow us to do that AT ALL. Sucks.
She was so sweet. Jae's her name. Came from a seaside town where there're wild sharks. Woww! *wide-eyed*
Oh darn! I should have taken a pic with her! Damn! *smacks forehead*
Anyhow, we talked and laughed quite a bit.

It's good to be back home.
Back home to mum's incessant nagging about EVERYTHING.
Back home to my sister's incessant chatter about EVERYTHING.
Back home to hiding in my room whenever I sense "bad weather" in daddy's corner.
Back home to being nice to Siti, my 2nd sis and 2 doggies.

I think I've learnt to love dogs better while in Aussieland.

Few things I did for the 1st time in Perth:
1. Mop up dog pee.
2. Surf.
3. Move around a foreign land, not really knowing which direction I'm headed in.
4. Get to my destination and not know where the bus stop to head home, is.

(My catch phrase for both no. 3 & 4 is "There's no language barrier what... just pop into a shop & ask la!")

I think there's more but that's all I can remember for now. =)
I think this marks the end of my bumming days... for now.

Hydrated ... with Saltwater!

I bet you never tasted the Indian Ocean like I did today.
I drank so much saltwater, it's unbelieveable!

The waves. Ripcurls, that's what they are called.
In fact, the ones I encountered, they're mini ones.

They (read: Ripcurls) are so strong, they literally take you with them, and curl you.
Sideways, upside down, tumbleturns.
You don't even have a chance to come up for breath.
It's scary. Coz you can't see, with eyes closed. Too fast.

They are so strong, even after they've crashed, they take you with 'em, while you're rooted to the ground. They toss & turn you till you lose your bearings, only to find where you are when it's all over.
You might not even know which way you should swim up to, to take a breath.
Upwards, could be the sand. Yes, bearings all gone up in smoke.

It's scary how the waves swallow you.

However, it was so much fun.
It was amazing.
Plus, I had my first go on the surfboard.

One word: Amazing! but no pictures to show for. =)
btw, just to further emphasize how much saltwater i drank, my nose and ears are still leaking saltwater.

Delayed telecast ...

I went to the beach the other day, and lazed there with a book & a bag of chips! And that's all I wanted to do. Laze ON the beach.

After a half hour of lazing ON the beach, and looking at the clear waters & the strong currents... I couldn't resist the waters ... & decided to make the trip back to Rowie's place to change into my swimwear... And so that's what I did.

And here's what I saw:

A seagull that wasn't afraid of coming even near to me

People kitesurfing

My sunburnt legs & its peeling skin!

and more Strong currents!

At the Crossroads of Life

I'm at the crossroads of life again.
Which path do I take?

I stand rooted to the ground, refusing to budge from my safe spot.
Life is all about risks. But i'm not a risk-taker.
Will time tell me which road to take?
Perhaps a passing car will stop to give me directions?
Perhaps a farmer harvesting in the fields nearby would stop to give me directions.

This time, I stand alone. And I want to.
I'm not looking for that hand to hold onto.
Not looking for a hand to lead me in the right direction.
Not looking for someone to run to should I stumble and fall.

Right or Left?
Can I make a detour if I decide that path is not right?
Then life would be too easy.
Then it wouldn't be about choices.

I got to make a choice.
I'm biding my time.

Surfing & Life

I was supposed to go surfing on Saturday but now, I think plans have been changed.
I might go on my own, & hopefully, figure out how to surf on my own!
Ugh!

Anyhow, when I think surfing, I think of what a friend told me, that life was like surfing.
Balancing yourself on the surfboard as the waves take you with it.
Living life, balancing everything about it as life takes us with it.
Roll with it. That's what I was told.

Rolling with life is alright. It's all about acceptance. Accepting what life presents you on a platter. I totally agree with that 'surfboard theory'.

I would like to add one more thing to the theory though.
That surfboard, most of the time, only allows for 1 person. You control that surfboard. You live life alone. It is a lonely journey.

Perhaps you may mention that there are fellow surfers. They are surfing the same beach, but they are taking on different waves. Just like we have relationships in our lives, but we all live different lives, however slight, and each of us have our own little twists.

That's life.

The Thin Line

Between arrogance and helpfulness.
Most of the time, people don't even realise they are being arrogant.

One may ask, why arrogance? Who says I"M being arrogant?!
How are they linked?
Perhaps I'm using the wrong vocabulary.
But arrogance meaning assuming that you know everything in that, able to help whoever is in need.
Helping others is never a sin.
However, assuming that you know everything is where the arrogance comes in. And arrogance...well... is not healthy.
And that's where "Knowing Your Place In Life" comes in.

When you know your place in life, you will know what you can say or cannot say, can or cannot do.

Know your place. Live it.
Do not try to overstep your boundaries.

Takes two...

It's frustrating. Disappointing.
Hope. Even when someone is hanging on. Lost.
Always takes two.
Takes two to build a relationship.
Takes two to maintain a relationship.
Takes one to break a relationship.
Takes two to mend a relationship.

Takes two all the time to be constructive.
Takes only one to destruct.
Takes only one to give up, and all is lost.
