Religion vs. Sport

Perhaps it isn't that easy to clearly draw a line between religious beliefs and sport, but surely it's not impossible.

The avoidance of Yoga coz its origins are religious, simply doesn't justify us not taking a greater interest in that sport at all.

Many of us can, today, attest to the fact that Yoga in most gyms or exercise classes does have a component of Meditation in it. But whether or not they are religious is clear. For example, California fitness most certainly doesn't have any religious meditation set in its yoga/pilates classes, as I would assume is the case in most other gyms here in Singapore.

Contrary to belief, the so-called "meditation" evident in many gyms these days, simply means the instructor getting the class to close their eyes and basically blanking out their thoughts for a good 5 to 10 mins.

In my opinion, it's a great way to relax. Love it! =)
